I hate when campaigns do this - they send out HTML only emails and so people that rely on webmail programs to get their e-mail at any place with a web connection instead of downloading to Outlook or similar programs can't see the content of the message. There is a balance here for e-campaigns, most pure HTML emails can also translate to a text only version so text-only webmail users can still see the e-mail. Another solution would be for the HTML email to show up as an HTML page attachment to text-only e-mail viewers. Apparently, the Bryson campaign has neither one of these options - and so on almost all the non-press release emails, I get the simple message above - the e-mail mesage can only be viewed in HTML. I wonder how many other people on their e-mail list are not getting the campaign message because of this problem. Here's a message to campaigns, especially ones like Bryson's, running a very grassroots effort to unseat a popular incumbent: pay attention to the details of your e-campaign strategy.
