...have left comments on your blog? Here, it's two. I apologize to both if they took my 'action figure' moniker as an insult. 'Action' is certainly a lot better than what we have from the current administration with regard to leadership is sheparding any kind of real reform with the most serious issue of our day- ethics. So follow the link above and read my reply to Mr. Albertini and Mr. Whitaker. If Phil Bredesen also reads this blog, here's his message: Governor, we realize that TennCare was a big deal. We thank you for making it solvent again- and otherwise your leadership of this state hasn't been so bad. When I think about it, it's been pretty darn good. Your accomplishments certainly deserve praise. But as long as you allow your party's leadership in the State Legislature to stall real ethics reform, your administration has failed. And failed miserably. What other state saw the arrest of several setting legislators? More than that, what other Governor would have failed to take an aggressive lead following those arrests in ensuring that a real ethics reform bill passed without worrying about whether or not it would give Republicans the upper-hand politically? We know that you have more control over the House and Senate leadership-- and we know that they are the reason that every "concensus" bill has been so laden with holes.
It's time for real reform, so either take charge, show your leadership and force a meaningful bill through, or get out of the way and let someone else do it. I wonder if that will happen with the very legislators charged in Tennessee Waltz looking on? Something-- anything that's meaningful-- needs to be done. I hope someone steps up who will do it.
