D.D. 12/13/05
The Memphis Commercial Appeal has more on the investigation into dead people voting in Memphis. A Senate committee meeting in Memphis agreed to gather again Dec. 21 in Nashville to continue its probe of the disputed election. The article also has the breakdown of why the votes were illegal, with one vote falling into two categories:- 44 live outside District 29.
- 10 failed to sign ballot applications.
- 4 were felons.
- 4 can't be verified as residents through the Memphis Housing Authority.
- 3 used addresses that are vacant lots or empty apartments.
- 2 used business addresses to register in the district.
- 1 person voted in the wrong precinct.
- 1 vote more than can be accounted for in Precinct 11-00.
The 44 people who Roland contends live outside the district should be easy enough to check. If more than 13 votes are invalidated by verifying that the voter lived outside the district, then obviously the whole election should be invalidated.
