Rep. Harold Ford, Jr. who is running for the U.S. Senate missed two fundraisers in his own honor in Knoxville over the past weekend. Ford insisted he was attending to a "family matter" and Democratic Party Chairman Bob Tuke said he heard an "apocryphal" reference to former Rep. Harold Ford, Sr. undergoing surgery in New York. The New York Post spotted Junior in New York last week as well, and listed him in tow with two blondes in its celebrity spottings section.

Blake Wylie notes Ford has a history of snubbing people even people on his side. I don't necessarly believe Ford was lying about why he was in New York, but the fact that he has used the "family business" excuse before seems odd. Seems like if you had Ford's family you wouldn't want to draw so much attention to it.
