D.D. 09/21/05

Just a few days ago, Terry Roland, who was running for a Senate Seat in District 29, vacated by John Ford, requested a recount on the special election in which is opponent, Ophelia Ford, won by a mere 13 votes. Yesterday, Roland's request to review typical election statistics about who actually voted in the recount, or rather who's votes were counted, was denied, according to a Roland press release dated yesterday. Today, Representative Stacey Campfield reports that the three members of the Shelby County Election Commission didn't show up to a meeting to discuss the allegations of voter fraud- the result being a quorum to conduct business could not be reached. I'll venture to guess that we'll never know who actually won the special election in District 29. The current tally will eventually be certified, and unlike some people are optimistically predicting, this will have zero negative effect on the US Senate race. After all, it only serves to emphasize what the point has been all along- that yes, the Ford family is bad, but look at that sharply dress, articulate Harold Ford, Jr. who didn't choose to be born with that cursed Ford family name.
